Eligibility criteria and how to apply
Nominations are now closed.
This prize is open to Foundation Year 1 and FY2 doctors in the UK and the Republic of Ireland.
We will send an invitation to each deanery and foundation school to nominate and select their most outstanding foundation doctor with a keen interest in paediatrics.
The Foundation Doctor will need to submit a 500-word max personal statement to the Head of Paediatrics in their foundation school / deanery. The personal statement should also explain the reason why they are applying for this award, providing evidence of their passion towards the paediatric specialty. Once the foundation school / deanery has selected their choice, the winning entries will be submitted to the RCPCH and the RCPCH will contact them. There are three winners per deanery (although bigger deaneries submit more than three) who will be invited to attend one day of the RCPCH Conference completely free of charge.Â

Some of the feedback!
The conference was fantastic – incredibly eye-opening, thought provoking and inspirational. I was particularly excited about Professor Sir Michael Marmot’s keynote speech as I have an interest in health inequalities, and the presentation exceeded all expectations. It was articulate, engaging, profound and humorous at moments, and emboldened my passion for this topic. It was a privilege to be a Foundation Doctor Prize winner this year and I am so grateful for the opportunity to have attended!
Thank you for being so welcoming and making it a great experience for us! I really enjoyed it, it was such an inspiring and motivating day! It definitely encouraged me to apply for Paediatrics in the future.
I had the BEST time at the conference - felt like a proper paediatrician in training! Everyone was so welcoming and the talks were super engaging too. Big thanks to everyone involved for inviting us and for putting on this award.
