RCPCH announces new Assistant Registrar

We are delighted to announce Dr Bhanu Williams as our new Assistant Registrar, a role she will commence from 24 August 2024.

Bhanu is a consultant in paediatric infectious diseases and Associate Medical Director for Education, Research and Innovation at London North West Healthcare University NHS Trust. She also works for NHS England as the System Dean for South West London.

She joined the RCPCH Board of Trustees in April 2020, having previously served as RCPCH Global Officer for five years, working with the team to grow our programmes to strengthen health systems for critically unwell children in lower income settings.

In response Dr Jan Dudley, RCPCH Registrar said:

I am delighted to welcome Bhanu as Assistant Registrar - and want to wish her huge congratulations on behalf of the College. This is a crucial position which actively supports the voice of our children and young people, working directly with RCPCH &Us, and given her background, I know she will flourish.
Many thanks also go to Dr Mo Akindolie, our outgoing Assistant Registrar whose contributions to this role have been immeasurable and we are excited to see what she does next in as Harkness Fellow in Health Care Policy and Practice.

On her appointment, Dr Bhanu Williams said:

I am grateful to be given the opportunity to become more deeply involved with RCPCH work, especially  working with our brilliant CYP team to foreground the voice of children and young people to improve child health. I would like to pay tribute to my inimitable predecessor in the role, Mo Akindolie- she will be a hard act to follow!

In response the RCPCH &Us volunteers wrote to Bhanu and said:

We are really looking forward to meeting up with you.

We’ve already been thinking about things to tell you like… enjoy it! Be open to working with RCPCH &Us and how children think which can be different and always lots to learn! Have a chance to float around and listen to other children and young people’s voices when in meetings and try to have a collaborative approach, we all have our own agendas but let’s work together. We also want to know what the most unusual food combinations you like, we’ve got some funny ones at committee meetings 😃 Mainly, it’s good to know the things that you do with us will be unexpected, fun, have energy, create connections, break the norms and create real progress.  It’s just amazing!

Thanks for wanting to work with us,
