The review team, which included an expert paediatric member, found a series of failings and made a number of recommendations. Our response to the report is here.
An Independent Maternity Services Oversight Panel was set up to oversee delivery of these recommendations and has today published its first quarterly report.
Responding to today’s report, RCPCH Officer for Wales Dr David Tuthill said:
We are glad to see that progress is being made at Cwm Taf although we note that there is still much work to be done.
In particular, we welcome news that of the 11 'Make Safe' recommendations identified in the Maternity Services Improvement Plan, the panel report that eight have been addressed, including the implementation of national guidance aground neonatal admissions.
All those involved must continue to work together to ensure that families get the best and safest care, as they need and deserve.
