New data from Public Health England reveals 301 new measles cases between April and June 2019. RCPCH's immunisation expert responds.
In response to (PHE), Professor Helen Bedford, immunisation expert for the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) said:
Measles is a potentially serious illness but it is preventable by vaccination. With children about to go back to school and young people starting university, this is an ideal time to check whether they have had the two doses of MMR vaccine needed for best protection against measles, mumps and rubella.
It’s never too late to get MMR vaccine which is highly effective and has a good safety record. You can check your child’s red book, or talk to your GP, Practice Nurse or Health Visitor for more information. You can also .
