Statement on PHE disparities review and next steps

A College statement welcoming the publication of stakeholder insights into the factors affecting the impact of coronavirus (COVID-19) on Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities, and what needs to happen now.

We are pleased to see the publication of stakeholder insights from Public Health England's rapid review in to the disparities in risks and outcomes of COVID-19. It is of the upmost importance that the voice and experience of those from BAME communities are heard in the corridors of Whitehall.

The clear message from these stakeholder insights is the need for Government to deliver, at scale and pace. We have seen Government conduct a number of investigations into to this issue over the previous months and years; it is now time for action.

The Government must produce far-reaching policy recommendations that tackle the structural inequalities in our society in the coming weeks. The recommendations must be specific and measurable, and the timeline in which they will be achieved needs to be clear.
