Wellbeing as paediatricians - creating environments where we can thrive at work

Dr Jess Morgan is a paediatrician and working as a Dinwoodie RCPCH Fellow on an exciting new project, Thrive Paediatrics, which aims to create meaningful change in the working lives of paediatricians. She speaks with Dr Anna Baverstock, a consultant paediatrician at Somerset NHS Foundation Trust.

Maybe we should aim to work in an environment where we don't constantly have to talk about the fact of our own wellbeing? Because actually it is just there by design and by default. How can we create an environment where we flourish because of the environment that we're working in, not despite the environment that we're working in?

We hope you enjoy this lively discussion. You can find out more about Thrive Paediatrics on this website. We're creating Wellbeing and Innovation Networks (WINs), communities where paediatricians come together and, using our newly published roadmap, draw from each other’s experiences to activate change.

We'll be publishing more articles on this website and in the member magazine, Milestones. We’re also organising some Thrive 'listening events', so look out for those soon. If you're interested in this project, please email us at thrive@rcpch.ac.uk.
