Who was able to submit a workshop proposal?
- You do not need to be a member of the RCPCH to submit a workshop proposal.
- We welcome proposals from across the healthcare sector and beyond, including non-clinicians, patients and carers, voluntary / social sector employees and students. We also welcome first time presenters.
- A majority of the proposals are independent of the RCPCH. However, the Conference does receive a small number of internal proposals from RCPCH teams, covering key College projects.
How long are workshops?
A typical RCPCH Conference programme has space for about 15 workshops of 75 minutes in length.
There are a few breakfast session workshop slots available on days two and three of the conference. These are 45 minutes in length and take place from 08:00 to 08:45.
How are proposals reviewed and selected?
All proposals are peer reviewed by the Conference Organising Committee. Acceptance is based on proposal merit, also taking account of the overall balance of conference content and our wish for it to reflect the diversity of our membership.
What kind of workshop proposals is the Conference Organising Committee looking for?
We have a strong preference for content that:
- aligns with and delivers on our overarching theme: Future of child health: innovate, integrate & inspire
- is co-designed with or includes the voice of children young people and families
- contains new, innovative, and fresh ideas that challenge established practice
- has a robust evidence base that demonstrates reliable results and increased value
We are keen for workshops to include children, young people and family voices either in development or delivery in person or online. The inclusion of children and young people should adhere to the RCPCH safer working practices and proposers must discuss their plans for inclusion with the RCPCH Children and Young People's Engagement Team before submission:Â and_us@rcpch.ac.uk.
What is the expenses policy and how many people does it cover?
The College will cover the following expenses for a maximum of two people (this includes speakers, chairs and the organiser): UK economy travel and one complimentary day at conference.
An additional two people per workshop will be entitled to a reduced registration rate for the day of the conference they are participating in.
- Please note that the College does not cover any accommodation and subsistence costs, although refreshments and lunch will be provided throughout the day at the Conference.
- Please ensure that any additional speakers or Chairs (if you have more than two people) are happy to cover their own travel and pay the reduced registration fee that applies to them before confirming with them and adding them to the session programme.
- Note that if workshop organisers do not comply with this policy, the RCPCH reserves the right to withdraw the workshop from the conference programme.
What else to consider?
- The submission of a completed proposal form does not in any way guarantee the submitter or presenters a speaking slot on the programme.
- It is important to highlight at this early stage that this is an in-person event. This means that the presenters listed in your proposal must be able to attend the Conference in person.
- Competing interests must be declared on your proposal form otherwise the workshop will not be considered. If your workshop is selected, any competing interests must be declared at your session both verbally and on any presentation slides.
- If your workshop proposal is accepted by the Conference Organising Committee, please be advised that you must not publicly share any details or make any announcements regarding your proposal until we have advised that you are able to do so.
- All organisers must refer to the expenses policy (see above) before putting together their programme and inviting speakers or other contributors.
