More than 170 health professionals working in support of paediatric epilepsy services and patient organisation representatives from across England and Wales came together virtually at the third Epilepsy12/OPEN UK National Conference.
They joined the conference with the joint aim of learning from each other and improving the care offered to children and young people with epilepsies.
Event programme
The conference was chaired by Professor Finbar O'Callaghan, Professor of Paediatric Neuroscience at UCL, (Hon) Consultant Paediatric Neurologist and President of the British Paediatric Neurology Association (BPNA).
One of the conference aims was to amplify the voice of children and young people who live with epilepsies. This was achieved through the inclusion of an interactive symposium led by the Epilepsy12 Youth Advocates, which showcased the impact of their diligent and groundbreaking work in the face of COVID-19.
In addition, the conference had presentations on OPEN UK-led quality improvement activities, Epilepsy12 audit results from the 2020 combined national report and a quality improvement (QI) showcase session.
