Child Protection Portal - about

Our dedicated website provides essential and evidence-based resources to help inform clinical practice, child protection procedures and professional and expert opinion in the legal system.

The Portal includes two online resources only available under login to College members and subscribers:

  • Child Protection Companion - describes the context and pathway of child protection cases from the medical assessment to court, including each form of maltreatment
  • Physical signs of child sexual abuse (Purple Book) - outlines good practice in relation to the paediatric forensic examination where there are concerns about child sexual abuse and is an evidence-based review of the interpretation of physical signs

Other content is available to all users. This includes:

  • Child Protection Evidence - systematic reviews to inform clinical practice, child protection procedures and professional and expert opinion in the legal system
  • Other resources - such as expert witness guidance, service delivery standards and principles for intimate clinical assessments undertaken remotely
  • Advocacy and legislation - including what the College and our members are doing to advocate for children and young people's rights
  • Educational opportunities - including courses and online learning, and mapped to competency level
