NI Executive Children and Young People’s Strategy 3 Year Delivery Plan - consultation response

In 2021 the Department of Education published the overarching 10 Year Children and Young People’s Strategy (2020 – 2030) on behalf of the NI Executive. Subsequently, in 2022, the Executive produced an initial draft three Year Delivery Plan (2021-24) and published for public consultation.

The RCPCH have issued a response covering a broad range of issues captured within the 8 High Level Outcomes of the 10 Year Strategy and detailing recommendations on enhancing the Delivery Plan to achieve these.

  • Our response called for protected funding to deliver the objectives within the and the inclusion of an ‘area of greatest focus’ pertaining to the physical health of all children in Northern Ireland within the .
  • We called for the inclusion of bespoke outcomes and indicators for children and young people with protected funding within the upcoming obesity prevention strategy and anti-poverty strategy.
  • We recommended a range of actions, which if implemented, would promote and establish good oral health for children and young people, support their emotional and mental wellbeing and crucially, respect and deliver on UNCRC rights. In turn, such actions would promote the delivery of the overarching .
