Course aim:
This is a highly interactive programme which provides delegates with the core skills and knowledge to be an effective mentor. It will allow delegates to have effective learning conversations with their mentees and by extension with other colleagues, patients and carers.
Topics covered will include:
• What is mentoring
• Benefits and value of mentoring
• Building effective mentoring relationships
• Mentor toolkit and interactive skills sessions
Learning objectives:
By the end of this course, delegates will:
• Understand what mentoring is and how it can be used in personal and professional development
• Be able to define roles and responsibilities within a mentoring relationship
• Have learnt and practised core mentoring skills such as questioning techniques and goal setting
• Be familiar with a recognised model of mentoring
• Feel confident to provide mentoring in their own setting
• Be aware of the importance of safety and supervision in mentoring and understand how to provide this or how to signpost to other more suitable resources or individuals
• Have access to the range of support resources for mentoring e.g. contracts, reflection templates, post course peer support

This course is suitable for a wide audience and aimed at all career stages interested in mentoring.
