Dr Laura Kelly said:
“Thank you, paediatric trainees, for electing me as your Chair of the Trainees Committee. I promise that I will work hard to repay the trust you have placed in me. I also want to take a moment to applaud Hannah; her excellent leadership of the Committee has kept trainee issues at the heart of the RCPCH during an intense time for trainees. Finally, thank you to the other candidates who ran in this election, ensuring that trainees had an excellent choice of candidates when selecting their Chair. I'm excited to get to work—leading the Trainees Committee on behalf of all paediatric trainees.”
Outgoing Chair of the Trainees’ Committee, Dr Hannah Jacob, said:
“Huge congratulations to Laura, who ran against an impressive set of candidates! The last year has been particularly tough for trainees, and everyone is going to need a lot of support in the months that follow. I have total confidence that Laura will be able to provide that support—bringing dedication, passion and fresh ideas. I am really excited to follow Laura on her journey.”
RCPCH President, Professor Russell Viner, said:
“Our Trainees’ Committee forms a vital part of our work, and the Chair is instrumental in representing the voices of our trainees. It’s been a very tough period for many trainees. And it’s important that their voices are heard, so that the College can provide the best possible support. I wish to pay tribute to Hannah, as she passes the baton, and I wish Laura every success as our new Trainees’ Chair.”
