The Chief Medical Officers of all four UK nations, NHS England and NHS Improvement, General Medical Council and Academy of Medical Royal Colleges have today issued a statement to recognise that the peak of pressure from coronavirus infections will again require temporary changes to practice, and noting that regulators and others will take this into account.
The statement thanks clinicians for their "remarkable past, present and future work to reduce the impact of this crisis on the lives of our fellow citizens".
It acknowledges the additional pressure in many parts of the NHS, and the need for a sustained response from the whole profession.
