UK CMOs, Academy and GMC write a letter of support to doctors through COVID-19

The Chief Medical Officers of the four UK nations, NHS England and NHS Improvement, General Medical Council and Academy of Medical Royal Colleges have written a further letter of thanks and support to all doctors during this pandemic. While noting the real hope that vaccinations offer, the letter acknowledges that "there are many weeks ahead that are likely to be among the most challenging of all our professional lives".

Many doctors are working in new ways and new areas of medicine. The  reiterates the professional bodies' "view that clinical decision making must remain anchored in the principles of Good Medical Practice", and that we must "also rightly take into account the realities of the situation in which we find ourselves".

The letter ends by thanking doctors working in all roles during the pandemic, and noting that "we stand professionally with you at this time".

Below are links to this letter, and the two letters sent by the CMOs and professional bodies in March and November of last year.
